Decision making can be tough, but thorough planning means fewer delays. Be prepared to be decisive throughout the process to stay within a comfortable time frame. 

2. BUDGET

Beware of project add-ons and changes in scope (a.k.a. scope creep) that will add cost to the project. Build in a contingency from the start.

3. DURING CONSTRUCTION

For larger projects, decide where you will live during construction. Moving out of your home will ultimately save time, money, and possible frustration. 

4. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Some things are out of our control: the weather, the city and county permit process, and possible unknown construction issues in existing structures.
